Several apps were temporarily down Wednesday, including Facebook, Instagram, Whatsapp and Facebook Messenger, according to Downdetector. 

According to the website, outages were first reported around 1 p.m. Eastern Time from coast to coast. Services started to resume within the hour. 

Most users reported issues with the mobile apps themselves as opposed to their desktop versions. Facebook Messengers had the highest percentage of outages with its app. 

"We’re aware that a technical issue is impacting some users’ ability to access our apps" Meta posted on social media. "We’re working to get things back to normal as quickly as possible and apologize for any inconvenience."
