COLUMBIA — The current Go COMO app will be retired nationally at the end of the year, and Go COMO riders will need to download a new bus tracking app to continue tracking the city buses. Go COMO is reminding riders to download the app ETA SPOT before Jan. 1. The current app, DoubleMap, will be retired nationally on Dec. 31. Public Works spokesperson John Ogan said the transition will bring improvements to the user experience. "With ETA SPOT, right up on the screen it tells you there is an alert, and it scrolls by with the message of the alert so that there is never any mystery about why the bus is so late today," Ogan said. Ogan said the new app will have accurate arrival times, real-time tracking and push notifications. Signs are posted at the Wabash Bus Station, on all bus stop signs and inside buses with QR codes that riders can scan with their phone to download the new app. "We're doing our best to get this message out," Ogan said. "We introduced the new app Nov. 1, and the old app ends two months later on Dec. 31. That gives us two months to get the word out. We're doing everything we can." ETA SPOT is available for download for free on Google Play at play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.etatransit and the App Store at apps.apple.com/us/app/eta-spot/id1021211544.
